The story that had to be told.
Kate's friends, Alex and Tom, drove from Miami to spend the day with Kate and Richie. Once the boys got to our resort, they all left for the beach. They came back a short time later with these:
Alex was carrying both. I wasn't sure what they were, but I figured they were alcoholic since the kids had such strange looks on their faces. I asked what was going on, and Alex started relaying the crazy story. He threw the frisbee to Tom as soon as they reached the beach. It missed Tom and hit a sleeping child under a beach umbrella. The child, visiting the beach with his extended family, suffered a small, bleeding cut above his eye. When Alex realized what he did, he freaked out...to put it bluntly. He was yelling for someone to call 911 even after the family reassured him that it wasn't necessary. (Alex can be a bit dramatic.) He was able to locate a small first aid kit which he delivered to the family. Then he located an even larger one and delivered that. Apparently he was so worked up that the family was concerned for him. The grandfather, who had apparently been drinking, decided to buy all the kids some drinks to settle them down. Thanks a lot, grandpa...NOT. Kate and Richie refused the drinks, so the grandfather ordered 2 screwdrivers. Who the heck buys a group of kids screwdrivers?? Seriously? So then we had this 19 year old in our room drinking screwdrivers! Alex promised us that he was not the driver...Tom was. He drank a bit from both drinks, and then I watched him dump the rest. Words did not have to be spoken, because the looks passed between Dan and me were enough. We could not believe we were dealing with a newly potty trained almost 3 year old and teenagers with screwdrivers.
