Easter was a bit different this year. We spent Good Friday at the hospital while Dad had a triple bypass. We feel very blessed that he is still with us. It is scary to think about what could have happened. His recovery won't be easy, so please keep him in your prayers. After Easter Sunday brunch with Grandma Sally and Grandpa Gene, I spent most of the afternoon at the hospital. We did start the day with the big hunt. The poor bunny was so tired, that she actually hid an empty plastic egg. Jake had a hard time understanding that one!
I think it's hilarious that I have a studio in my basement and settle for Easter pictures of the kids together on the front steps!

Livi
I can't believe she's double digits! Livi came over for her 10 year old birthday pictures. I can so clearly remember the day her mom called to tell me she was pregnant. Now she's a beautiful, sweet young lady. I'm so proud of her! Here are a few of my favorites. Thanks for being so cooperative, Livi, even with Jake running around! We love you!

Baby Joseph...
I spent some time with Joseph's family recently. I packed lots of baby hats and blankets, but this sweet little guy just wasn't up for it. He's had some tummy troubles, and it was really important that he stay asleep. I tried not to disturb him too much. I am so pleased with the shots I got. Mom wants to bring him to the studio when he's feeling better, and I'm so looking forward to that.

Finally Outside!
I must admit I was a little tired of studio shoots. It was so nice to get outside last Saturday. I had my photo walk with my photography club followed by this family shoot. Grandma contacted me about taking pictures of all of her grandkids for her wall. While we were there we got some family shots, too.
You better believe I am already thinking about twin senior shoots for these beautiful freshmen sisters!

Camden
I've said it before, and I'll say it again. When you shoot kids, each shoot is so unique. That is what makes this so much fun for me. Camden cracked me up. He made me work for each and every shot. I had to pull out every trick in the book...and a little bribe here and there, too. I've learned that kids LOVE to see the shot after you take it. Camden sure did. That kept him interested in what we were doing. I had to break out some toys, too. It helps to have books and trains from Jake's collection nearby and ready to grab.

My Man...
I've been debating about Jake's hair for a long time...too long. It's just hair, right? I really wanted to go super short with spiky bangs. I think I've discussed this with Cindy from Great Clips every 3 weeks for at least the past 6 months. When I brought it up again this time, she said, "That's it. We've danced around this long enough. We're doing it." That was just what I needed. I needed a push. I think I like it. I think I'll do it again. He really seems to like it. Can you tell?
I also wanted to share one more shot of me from the Shutterclub shoot this weekend. I just loved this one by Jessica Ebeler Photography.
This one will be the cover of my next blog book. Thanks, Jessica! Thanks also to Brooke Boyer Photography for the cover shot for the blog book that is in process right now. That was the last shot on the previous entry.

Lucky...
I'm lucky enough to be in a photography club. Not just any photography club...but a club filled with hip, smart, creative people. I'm inspired when I'm with them. I see things from a different perspective. I am pushed out of my box.
Yesterday we spent a few hours downtown doing an urban shoot. Seriously fun.
I look pretty serious about photography, huh? ;)
