Baby Grant

This guy gives me baby fever!!  He's so adorable and so sweet. He was so smiley and cooperative. I wasn't sure about putting a baby his age on the scale, but he fits!

The above shot is my favorite!

He gets his good looks from his sisters. This first shot is going to be blown up for my studio!!

Angie and Joe, thanks for bringing these sweet babies to the studio!!

A New Tradition...

My sister and I had a big first a couple of weeks ago. We flew on a plane together for the first time in our lives! I didn't even realize it until we were on the plane. I turned to Em and said, "Wow...I am pretty sure this is the first time we've been on a plane together!!"  We took plenty of great vacations as kids, but we always drove.

Izzy had never seen the beach or a palm tree. I thought it would be so much fun for the kids to do this together.

It was fun. The kids had a ridiculous amount of fun. The noise level was shocking. I tried very hard to stay patient and give my sister a break as much as I could.

We will definitely do this again. In fact, I'm planning on making this a tradition.

Sam is 1!!

I've been photographing Sam since he was a newborn and anticipating this special day for a long time! I feel like I've been able to share his milestones this year, and that has been so special for me. He's such a sweet little man, and his brothers are pretty special, too!

Fail...

This is pathetic. Do you remember my post about my vegetables? I was so excited to be growing vegetables for the first time? Remember that?

Well...why didn't anyone speak up and tell me what a stupid idea that was? Why didn't anyone mention that trying to grow vegetables in pots during a St. Louis summer was laughable?  Why didn't someone remind me that I would have to water these stupid things 3 times a day when it was 10,000 degrees for most of the summer, and they would still turn out looking like this?

Someone could have predicted that I would get one measly zucchini, and then my two plants would be taken over by some disgusting white wormy thing that ate them from the inside out.

What about the fact that I haven't gotten even a single decent pepper?

The roma tomatoes are hard and green on the inside. We've been able to eat some grape tomatoes, but I expected many more from my two plants.

The pumpkin plant is still as crazy as ever...taking over the yard. However, I won't be holding a neighborhood patch this year. My big crop of pumpkins is actually just one...but he's giant. We grew one big pumpkin. It's hilarious.

We've been turning him over every day to prevent a flat spot. We are totally babying this thing. I can't wait until he's sitting on my front porch. He's the only bright spot from my summer of gardening.

Well...there is one more bright spot...my helper.

Lesson learned. I won't be potting anything but rosemary next summer. My rosemary has been wonderful. In fact, I have plenty, so let me know if you are local and want some. We love rosemary on potatoes!!

I may put in a few grape tomato plants...but not in pots. The pumpkin plant is questionable. Dan will need to revive the grass underneath in the spring, so we'll see!

Next time I try something stupid...please tell me!

Jordan...

Jordan just celebrated his fourth birthday, and Mom thought it would be a fun idea to incorporate his passion. I am all about following your passion!!!!  Jordan LOVES his Batman costume. He's in it ALL the time...even outside in this crazy heat! I love that Mom wanted these shots. I so wish I had better pictures of Kate in her Dorothy from the Wizard of Oz costume!!

This wasn't my first shoot in the new studio (that first shoot is still a secret), but it was my first time to use the chalkboard wall. I had a blast playing with some images from google for a few of the shots. Mom and Jordan were amazed. :)  The wood floor looks great, huh?!

I'm headed back to Florida tomorrow for a long girls and kids weekend with my sister. I can't wait to take pictures of Izzy on the beach...her first beach trip!

The Wedding!!!

I shot my first wedding a couple of weeks ago. I had the direction of two friends of mine who are wonderful photographers. They've done weddings before and could show me the ropes.

Caitlin and Erik and their families were so laid back and so wonderful, so it was a great first wedding experience. The bride thought of every detail. I loved the theme, the venue, the food...everything!  I am so super excited about the images I got.

Caitlin and Erik, I am so excited for you. Your deep love for each other is so apparent. I was thrilled to be able to celebrate it with you! Thank you!
