A Few Treats...

Somebody loves Hostess powdered sugar donuts...so much.  We were at the grocery store together last Monday. Snow was predicted. Snow is a special occasion, right? Jake talked me into a bag of donuts. They are definitely an occasional treat, because he would live on them if I let him.

We got the snow...just about 3 inches. It was a good excuse to stay in our jammies until it was time to head out to shovel.  The boys do the hard work, and Mommy gets to have fun.

Drew and Nicholas, our neighbors, joined us for some sledding, too.

When we came inside, it was time for the next treat. I pulled out the ingredients for microwave smores. I also pulled out my macro lens for a little practice. (I'm headed to Vegas this weekend, and we have a macro photo walk scheduled.)

Keep your fingers crossed that the weather holds out on Sunday. I am excited about my trip to Vegas, but I do want to get home to my family. We need to get Kate moved back to school on Monday, and I want to be here to help and send her off.

Jake's View...

I finally cleaned off Jake's digital camera. It was pretty darn funny. There were definitely themes to the shots. We had the body shots...mostly his own feet and face.

 

There were the Mommy shots. I was always in my office since that is where his camera is kept. 

Along with the Mommy in her office shots were shots of items found in that office.

There were lots of food shots although I can't remember letting him have a camera at the dinner table!

I saw lots of interesting shots of everyday items around the house. The last one in this next set is actually the handle of my vacuum cleaner.

There was a great flag shot by the boy who still loves flags. This shot happened to be of his own shirt.

He also got a pretty cute shot of his sissy.

I think my photog friends will agree that he caught some pretty great bokeh on his holiday light shots.

Now if I could just figure out how to delete all digital files off his camera at one time. It will be quite a project to do them one at a time, and it's looking like the only way!!

Projects

I just ordered my Project 365 book for 2010. I've done this project two years in a row. It involves taking a picture every single day of the year. Last year I scrapped each week. I knew I did not have the time or energy to do that this year. Instead I placed each picture of 2010 in a book and included the journaling. The only page I designed was the cover.

While I was previewing the book before I ordered, I got that nagging feeling of regret. Maybe I should have made time to start the project this year. The end result is just so awesome...so many memories all in one place.  I will probably regret my decision all year, but taking one year off might be just what I need.  The blog is quite a project, too. I can only handle so many! I'm tempted to do Project 52...one shot a week. We'll see. I must make the decision soon.

I was cleaning off the pictures on my iPhone. Izzy plays with it every Tuesday and takes a lot of pictures. I found a couple that I took and forgot to save.

Jake and Izzy were watching tv at Mama and Papa's house.

We were at an ice cream place with Mike and Sue after eating at our favorite Italian restaurant. We drank a little too much red wine at dinner and were acting pretty silly. The teenagers at the ice cream place were probably glad when we left.

Jake took this next shot of his buddy, Uncle Mike. Jake was using some kind of holiday photo app.

Mike, Sue, and Nicole came over Friday night for our traditional Christmas celebration. It was scheduled over Christmas break, but Sue got sick and they were trying to get Chris packed to move. We had a great time...but we missed Chris!!  Uncle Mike kept Jake entertained most of the evening...or maybe it was the other way around? 

Those of you familiar with my house may have noticed a big change. My sister came over last week and rearranged my furniture. It's been the same for 16 years, because I couldn't care less about stuff like that. Ha! However, we want to hang the tv over the fireplace, so we had to make a change. I'm really liking it!

I'm not crazy about my leather sofa and chair, but  it's only a little over a year old. I'm stuck with it for awhile.  If you want to buy it, let me know. LOL  I want to replace the coffee table with a large ottoman. We use it for our feet more than anything else.  The next step is hanging the tv and either having custom bookcases done on either side of the fireplace or finding bookcases. I'm leaning towards custom, but I'm afraid the look won't be contemporary enough. I want to look around a bit before we decide.  I hate furniture shopping, so this could be a long process.

So...I have a Jake story. I've hesitated sharing it here. I'm not proud of it, but it is hilarious. We were eating dinner as a family last week.

Kate:  "After dinner I'm going to a movie with Claire. We're seeing Tangled."
Dan:   "That's a Disney movie, right?  You should take Jake."
Jake:  "No. Don't take Jake. I'm a pain in the ass."

I don't think we've ever laughed so hard, but I felt horrible at the same time! I really don't remember calling him that, but I can't promise that I didn't at some point. He claims he heard it watching Home Alone. I need to watch it again. I'm hoping the older brother says it to Kevin!!!  

I'm finally going to download the pictures Jake has taken on his Fisher Price camera. That should be my next entry, and it should be hilarious. ;)

Please remind me not to purchase anymore plastic holiday plates at Target. This is most...but not all...of my Valentine's collection. I think this is some kind of sickness! Why am I addicted to this stuff?

My kind of senior...

Emily wanted 3 shoots! We did a summer shoot last year, just finished some studio stuff, and are planning an urban shoot in the snow. We are just watching the forecast and waiting. Then the plan is to put all the photos from all three shoots into a book. I love that idea!

 
Em...my new silver chair is going with us to Main Street!!
